Sugar Mills The year 2006 marks the fiftieth anniversary of the establishment of Mitr Phol Sugar Corp. Ltd. The company grew from a small family business supplying condensed syrup for sugar refinery in Ban Pong district, Ratchaburi province in 1946. It was in 1956 that the Mitr Phol Sugar Corp., Ltd., as it is known today, was formally set up with in-house capability to produce its own sugar. Since then, thanks to the rapidly increasing demand the company has expanded by leaps and bounds to become Thailand’s top producer and exporter of sugar. |

| The first mill of Mitr Phol Sugar Group was set up under the name of Mitr Phol Sugar Mill in Ratchaburi province. However, by 1990 the company made a strategic decision to relocate the main production base to Dan Chang district, Suphanburi province in order to realize the goal to achieve the leadership position in the country’s sugar industry. |

| The second major step was taken by the setting up of Mid Siam Sugar Mill in Kampangphet province in 1976. Subsequently, the mill was relocated to Kuchinarai district, Kalasin province and renamed as Mitr Kalasin Sugar Mill in 1998. |

| By 1983 Mitr Phu Kieo Sugar Mill (United Farmer & Industry Co., Ltd.) in Phu Kieo district, Chaiyaphum province was launched as the third mill utilizing the most modern production technology of the day. |

The company’s sugar business was further consolidated with the addition of another mill in Nong Rua district, Khon Kaen province known as Mitr Phu Viang Sugar Mill in 1995.
Most recently in 2003 the company bought shares and managed another sugar mill in Bangrajan district, Singburi province, thus forming the fifth facility of the Mitr Phol Sugar Group under the name of Singburi Sugar Mill. |

With the 50 long years of experience in the sugar business, Mitr Phol Sugar Group clearly saw the great sugar business opportunities in the People’s Republic of China over a decade ago. Since 1993, the company has set up Guangxi Nanning East Asia Sugar Co., Ltd. to start sugar production to serve the local Chinese population. At present, Mitr Phol Sugar Group owns five sugar mills within Guangxi country including Funan, Chongzou, Tuolu, Ningming, and Haitang. From the initial and modest crushing capacity of 13,500 tons of canes per day, the Chinese operation now more than triples its production capacity to 716,000 tons of canes per day with a total crushing capacity of 8,800,000 tons per year, yielding sugar output of 1,100,000 tons per year. |

Guangxi East Asia Paper Company |

| Mitr Phol Sugar Group’s latest venture in the People’s Republic of China is the investment of another 475 million Yuans to build a paper mill with a capacity of 60,000 tons per year in Chongzou of Guangxi county. The paper mill is another logical extension of Mitr Phol’s sugar mill in the county as the paper mill utilizes 200,000 tons of bagasse and other wood pulp in the locality. The mill is expected to start operation in 2007. |
